Abner Cooley was the son of David and Margaret (Hitchcock) Cooley, born in Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts on Aug 17, 1752. He was baptized on Sep 24, 1752.

David and Margaret had a set of twins in on Nov 26, 1747. The twins were named Abner & Tabitha. The twin Abner died on May 29, 1750 and they used the name again.

Abner was married to Maria Abigail Chapin, daughter of Abner and Abigail (Warren) Chapin, on Oct 16, 1783 at the Congregational Church in Somers, Connecticut.

Abner and his family moved to Chautauqua, New York between 1804-1806.

Holland Land Company lot 61 contains the farms which stretch from the Sheridan town line along King Road to Keach’s corners. This lot was conveyed from the Holland Land Company to Abner Cooley in 1817 (Liber 2 Page 93)

Abner Cooley is listed in the Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots Vol. 1.

Abner and Maria had 9 children:
Lorenzo, Maria, Lucinda, Sophia, Asher, Aretas, Stoughton, Harmon & Elias. My ancestor, Lorenzo is the youngest of the boys.
