Final rites for John Francis McLymer, 80, of 908 Eva St., were held at the Clements Funeral Chapel today at 2 p.m. with interment in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. Officiating was the Re[v.] Leon Hall, chaplain of the American Legion Post No. 7, which provided full military rites. Born and reared in Harrisburg [sic], Pa., Mr McLymer had lived in Durham for the past 12 years. He was a veteran of the Philippine Insurrection, the Spanish-American War and World War I. Surviving him are four stepdaughters, Mrs. R.A. Sorrell of Durham, Mrs. Carlton Smith and Mrs. Rufus Mason, both of New Bern and Mrs. Dan Carpenter of Fayetteville; four stepsons, Everette I. Clark of New Jersey, Davis S. Clark of Shelton, Wash., William T. Clark of the U.S. Army and Jerry Carpenter of Fayetteville; and a nephew, Dan McLymer of Delaware. ~Durham (NC) Sun, 31 Dec 1960
