Services for Harold Weber

Funeral Services were in Flaxville at St. Louis Catholic Church Wednesday Dec. 23 for Harold Weber, 75, who died of cancer Dec. 19 at the hospital in Scobey after a long illness. Father Mike Kirkness officiated, and burial was in the Flaxville Cemetery.
One of Flaxville's community's prominent citizens, Harold virtually spent all of his life there, coming with his parents, Nick and Anna to the community in 1913.
He was born March 31, 1912 at St. Cloud, Minn., later receiving his education from Flaxville schools where he was active in sports and other school activities.
Harold was a jolly, well-met fellow always with a good sense of humor, and during his high school years was a stellar player on Flaxville basketball teams in the ‘30's.
During his years in Flaxville he was a projectionist at the old Flaxville Theatre in the 1930's and over the years he worked on many electrical, plumbing and general repair projects, along with being helpful in many fund-raising efforts for various organizations.
Along with this he also played the banjo and spoons. He and Ginger Miller land the late Winnie Moulds made up a musical combo known as the Buckwheat Trio which performed at various events in the area over the years, especially during earlier years in the home talent minstrel shows and later musical shows at the Dirty Shame shows in Pioneer Town at the Daniels County Museum grounds.
He also played in some of the dance bands during those years when Saturday night there always were dances around somewhere in the area.
Harold married Clarice Legare in 1934 in Scobey, who survives him, and to this union were born a son, Leslie, now of Billings, and a daughter, Kay (Mrs. Harold) Girard of Scobey. There are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the services were Gary Linder, Henry Roos, Omar French, Terry Linder, Ben Tryan and Richard "Bud" Handy. Music was provided by Candace Southland, Roz Bowler and Nellie LaPierre. Burial was in Flaxville Cemetery by Waller Funeral Home.
