Floyd M. Adams, Sr., longtime civic worker, farmer and retired merchant in the Levi community of Shelby County, died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon at Baptist Hospital. He was 62.

Mr. Adams suffered a heart attack about three weeks ago near Sikeston, Mo. While he and his wife were driving back from a visit with their son, Floyd M. Adams, Jr., a St. Louis automobile dealer. The father was transferred last Sunday from a Sikeston clinic to Baptist Hospital.
Born in Henderson, Tenn., Mr. Adams moved to Levi about 40 years ago. He operated a store and service station there about 20 years until 1946.

Mr. Adams served 8 terms as president of the Levi Civic Club and as a member of the Levi Parent-Teacher Association and was instrumental in getting the Levi School rebuilt after two fires.

He was a former Levi constable and a strong supporter of the late E. H. Crump, Shelby political leader. He was a member of Stephenson Chapel Methodist Church. He lived at 177 Levi Road.

He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Neal Bills of Levi; two brothers, R.V. Adams and Horace Adams, and a sister. Mrs. Jones, all of Dyersburg, Tenn. National Funeral Home has charge.
