Anchorage resident Taunya Tadeki Bourdon, 33, died July 9, 2008, at home. Services were held at Witzleben Legacy Funeral Home, 1707 S. Bragaw St. Burial followed at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. A potlatch to celebrate her life was held following the burial.

Taunya was born June 18, 1975, in Fairbanks to Emery (Sonny) Bourdon Sr. and the late Patricia Ann Bourdon (Esmailka). Taunya was raised by her dad and stepmom, Ellen Bourdon (Mark), since she was 3 years old in Anchorage. She lived in Arkansas, Fairbanks and Koyukuk. "She was an excellent cook and won raves for her sticky rice and Thai food," her family wrote. "Taunya was Athabascan, Inupiat Eskimo, French, German and Russian. She had a distinctive laugh and outgoing attitude and was talented at crocheting." Most recently, she worked at T.G.I. Friday's as a cook. In the past, she also worked at Prudhoe, Koyukuk and Fairbanks.

She leaves behind her son, Isaiah Bourdon; parents, Sonny and Ellen; brothers, Emery Jr. and Jason Mark; grandmother, Ethel Esmailka; aunts, Kim Pettigrew, Laurie Lolnitz, Vera Lestenkof, Shirley Sam, Lilly Lafleur, Marlene Mark and Margaret Hansen; uncles, Ernie Esmailka Jr., Percy Lolnitz, Darryl Sam, Mike Pettigrew, Lincoln Mark, Peter Mark, Arnold Mark and Todd Hansen; cousins, Krystiana, Jamie and Kyle Mark, Malaika and Joel LaFleur, Norman, Presley, Dax, Percy Jr. and Lily Lolnitz, Keith, Rose, Stephan, Jade, Jenna and Jolene Lestenkof, Alexandria Esmailka, Patricia and Starlene Kriska, and Darrel Sam Jr. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Bourdon, boyfriend, Fabian, and son Stephen Pilot; mother, Patricia; aunt, Lorraine Esmailka; uncle, Leroy Esmailka; and grandparents, Jed and Teenie Pettigrew and Ernie Esmailka Sr. Arrangements were with Witzleben Legacy Funeral Home.
