Herman Leutsch, 95, resident of this community since 1939, passed away at St. Andrew's Hospital in Bottineau on Wednesday evening, July 24th, following an illness of 10 days duration.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27th, in Our Savior Lutheran Church of Bottineau at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend L.K. Meyer officiating.
Pallbearers were Carl Bullinger, Hans Zimmerman, Raymond Johnson, Sverre Lillegard, Henry Schultz, and Herman Lucht.
Interment was in Oak Creek Cemetery at Bottineau.
C.V. Hopper Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Born in Germany on June 16(sic), 1862, he came to the United States and settled first in Dorchester, Wisconsin. In 1889 he came to Bottineau County and homesteaded near Gardena.
He moved to the town of Gardena in 1912 were he resided until he moved to Bottineau in 1939.
He married Bertha Shulze(sic) in Gardena in 1903. She preceded him in death in 1929.
During his residence in Bottineau County he had served on village and School boards in Gardena and held various township offices.
He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Clara Smith and Mrs. Louise Waters, both of Bottineau, and several nieces and nephews.
