MOUNT SIDNEY-Ruby Croushorn Bailey, 93, a former resident of Mount Sidney, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2007, at Augusta Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. She was born April 5, 1914, in Weyers Cave, and was the daughter of the late George N. and Lettie Landes Croushorn.
Mrs. Bailey lived her entire life in the Weyers Cave and Mount Sidney communities, where she and her husband operated the family farm for 47 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Staunton.
On June 14, 1941, she married Guy Samuel Bailey, who preceded her in death April 9, 1988. She is survived by three nieces, Joyce Alexander McDonald and husband, James, of Mount Sidney, Dorothy Garber Dollins and husband, Marvin, of Waynesboro and Jeannie Garber Critzer and husband, Robert, of Crimora; four nephews, Nelson L. Croushorn and wife, Susan, of Fairfield, Ronnie Garber and wife, Eva, of Staunton, Rudolph Reed and wife, Bernice, of Stuarts Draft and David Driver and wife, Mabel, of Quinton; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends may call at any time at the home of her niece, Joyce McDonald, at 273 Morningside Drive in Mount Sidney or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jeffrey Allen and Wade Munford officiating. A private burial will be conducted earlier in the day.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in her memory.
