Mason was the son of Samuel Breeding I. He migrated from Buncombe Co, NC, to Bedford Co, TN. He served in the military as a private in the Tennessee Volunteers during the War of 1812. He was a pioneer settler in Morgan Co, AL. His estate papers were filed on May 7, 1827. His widow, Barbary, and his son, Samuel, were appointed administrators.
