Carolyn M. Kauth, Kaukauna, age 93, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born November 6, 1910 in Kaukauna, daughter to the late Edna (Freeman) and Hugo Weifenbach her father being one of the organizers of F & M Bank in 1911 and later serving as Bank President. She married Paul H. Kauth on September 14, 1946 in Kaukauna. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1998. She attended Nicolet Grade School and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1928 and Lawrence University with a BA degree in 1932. Carol did post graduate work at WI General Hospital and State Laboratory of Hygiene in Madison, becoming a Licensed Medical and X-ray Technician after passing the State Board exam. In 1934 she began her career as the technician in charge of laboratories for the Whitehall Medical Clinic and Community Hospital working for five Doctors in Whitehall, WI. In 1936, she received a job offer to return to Kaukauna to work for Dr. Charles Boyd, Dr. George Boyd and Dr. Albert Leigh at their clinic on WI Ave. for ten years. Later after marrying and beginning a family she returned to work as the X-ray and lab technician at Riverview Sanitorium in Little Chute. Carol retired in 1975 after 30 years in the medical profession. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, taking pictures and refinishing furniture among many other things. As part of her interest in history, she submitted Electa Quinney as the name chosen for what is now known as the Electa Quinney Middle School on the South Side of Kaukauna when it opened in the mid 1960s. Carol was a member of Immanuel UCC, where her grandmother, Barbara (Reiss) Weifenbach and great grandmother Margaretta Reiss were charter members. In loving memory of her dog Jack and cats Charlie and Tommy, a memorial fund will be established in her name to benefit the Fox Valley Humane Association. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2099.

Her daughters would like to thank, Shirley Margenau who provided respite care each week and Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice for their wonderful in home program with a special appreciation for the loving care of Mom given by Rachel Schroeder, Certified Hospice Registered Nurse.

What is important-not fortune or fame, but to be with the people you love. Carol's love was deep and strong for her family and ours to her.
