John was born on February 26, 1953 in Kansas City, KS, the son of John and Judy Lillig, Jr. John (Phil or J.P.) was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Ward High School and truly enjoyed coaching football for the CYO. John was united in marriage to Vicki Alfino on October 24, 1975. He was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation for over 35 years and was a valuable inspector, working out of the Bonner Springs office. John's love of life and outdoor activities included gardening, hunting, fishing, smoking meat and watching KU Basketball games. J.P. was very devoted to the Holy Angels Cemetery Association for many years, as well as the Knights of Columbus and Parish Council.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki, of the home; two daughters, Christy Dow and Carrie Handy; one son, Shawn Lillig; his mother, Judy Lillig; one brother, Mike Lillig; one sister, Colleen Mann and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Cemetery Association, Caring Bridge website or to the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired, c/o Christy Dow, 6403 Millridge St., Shawnee, KS 66218. Thank you for helping us celebrate the life of John Lillig.
