William Franklin Rudolph, the illegitimate son of Nancy Jane Armistead & unknown Anderson. He was also known as: "The Missouri Kid", "Missouri Billy", William Armistead, William Anderson and others. He was the notorious bank robber and a murderer of a Pinkerton Agent. He and George Collins, aka Frank Lewis or "Black Frank", blew up the vault of the Union Bank in Union, Franklin County Missouri on December 27, 1902. They escaped with $15,000 in cash and much more in securities in an estimated worth of $115,000. A month later they killed a Pinkerton Agent, Charlie Schumacher, in cold blood when Schumacher and a posse tried to capture Rudolph & Lewis outside of Sullivan, Missouri at his mother & step-father's home. Both men were later captured in Hartford, Connecticut and both were hung for their crimes. William Rudolph (aka "The Missouri Kid") was hung on May 8, 1905 in Union, Missouri and buried in an unmarked grave in Calvary Cemetery St. Louis, Missouri (*as per his mother's request) Rudolph wanted to be buried along side his partner, George Collins.
