Mary Anne Hilley Jenkins, age 54, passed away peacefully at her home in Smyrna, GA on June 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Anne Hilley; Grandmother Irene E. Hilley; Grandfathers Robert D. Hilley, Sr. and Ralph A. Barber. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband David M. Jenkins; father Robert D. Hilley, Jr.; brothers Scott Hilley, Mark Hilley, John Hilley and Jeff Hilley (Sherri); nephews Alex Hilley, Ben Hilley and Connor Hilley; nieces Elizabeth Hilley, Katherine Hilley, Parker Hilley, Caitlyn Hilley and Rachel Hilley; grandmother Gladys S. Barber. Anne was born in Atlanta, GA on August 10, 1954, and grew up in Birmingham, AL, graduating from Mountain Brook High School In 1972. She attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She later attended and graduated from the nursing school at University of Alabama Birmingham. After working at Brookwood Hospital for a number of years, she used her nursing skills for a second career with third party administration companies, ending her career at Western Litigation, Inc. Anne and her husband David recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. The family greatly appreciates the loving and devoted care David gave Anne during her one year struggle with her illness. A memorial service will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church in Hoover, AL (Birmingham) on Thursday June 18, 2009 with visitation at 1:00 PM, service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, any memorials should be given to the American Cancer Society in memory of Anne. Arrangements by Cremation Society of the SOUTH in Marietta 770-420-5557.
