Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Parker of Long Beach celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary July 31, 1996. The couple were originally married July 31, 1926 in Gulfport. Mr. Parker is a retired carpenter and supervisor at Gulfport College. Mrs. Parker, the former Daisy Lee Bond, is a homemaker. The couple have four children, Gladys Alexander, Delia Alexander, Joseph E. Parker Sr. and Dlores Rushing; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 3 p.m. Sunday at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. LONG BEACH - Joseph Ellis Parker, age 88, and a resident of Long Beach, died Thursday, January 28, 1999, in Long Beach. Mr. Parker, a native and lifelong resident of Long Beach, was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Long Beach Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Parker was a happy, hardworking, wonderful man, loved by all. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Lee Parker; a son, Joseph E. Parker Jr.; two brothers, John Parker and Thomas Parker; and three sisters, Gertrude Collins, Ernestine Pearson, and Daisy McKay. Survivors include three daughters, Gladys Alexander and Delia M. Alexander, both of Long Beach, and Delores Rushing of Pass Christian; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Parker of Long Beach; 14 grandchildren; a and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, January 30, at the Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
