Catherine was the younger of two daughters. Her mother died when she was 20 months old. She married Marshall Keiper on May 6, 1935, in Broadheadsville, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. The couple was married by J. David Weiss, Justice of the Peace. They raised six children: Marcia, Richard, Anita, Melva, Dale, and Cherry. She worked as a cook at Dewitts Inn and at the Bushkill School for 25 years, retiring in 1961. She served on the board of directors of the Monroe County Area Agency on Aging and was a member of the Mount Pocono and Stroudsburg Senior Citizen groups.
