Funeral services for Louis Garland Burns, 65, retired farmer of the McBurg Community, were held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at McBurg Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gus Self and the Rev. Lloyd Hickman. Burial took place in the Wright Cemetery. Mr. Burns died Thursday, January 28, at his home.
Born December 25, 1899, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Ollie Burns and Eliza Mitchell Burns. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Robinson Burns; three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Mitchell, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Martha Mitchell, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Naomi Durham, Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, James O. Burns and Donald W. Burns, both of Giles County; thirteen grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Thurman, Pulaski; and a half-sister, Mrs. Alma Peacock, Atlanta, GA. Bennett-May Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
