Marian or Mary Elizabeth Mahoney as far we know was born in Old Town in Forsyth County on or near the Reynolds Tobacco Plantation known as Reynolda in 1922 to James P.Mahoney and Marion Barry. Not very much is known about Marion other than her cousins called her "Bumps" a nickname she picked up don't know where it came from. Also it appears she never married. She is buried with her parents and her Stepmother at Salem cemetery in Winston-Salem.
