Rex lived most of his life in Nunica. He was a meat cutter at Quality Meats and loved fishing and hunting. He was easy going and upbeat by nature.
The funeral service will be conducted 11:00AM Saturday from Vanzantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake, with Pastor Bob Porterfield officiating.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys Busman of Spring Lake; his father, Fred Busman of Muskegon; three sisters: Carmen Holmes of Grand Haven, Jan (Doug) Johnson of Fruitport, Beth (Richard) Brooks of Union City, TN; a brother, Jeff (Kelly) Busman of Muskegon; and nieces and nephews.
According to Rex's sister, George Rabidoux was always a close friend to Rex.
Car Accident, Spring Lake, MI.
Tragically Rex was killed while stopped at a stop sign on the Northwest side of 148th Ave waiting to turn onto Cleveland (M-104). A semi jackknifed on slippery, snowy roadways.
He was cremated and his ashes received and scattered by his wife.
There is a Roadside Memorial at the scene of the accident, which includes a small wooden cross. (Year 2010)
It appears to be rarely visited (busy street corner), but the original plastic flowers still remain.
Update: In 2012, someone(s) replaced the old flowers with new ones. Also new, a fishing pole in remembrance and a large white powder coated metal cross.
2022 update. The white cross is gone, replaced with a large, nice metal cross someone has made. A plaque has also been added.
2023. A large Dollar General was built on the wooded corner this year and the cross has been removed by the person who placed it there for safe keeping for now.
