Laura Boone Willis, Age 80 of Spruce Pine, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 7,2009, after an extended Illness. She was the wife of Paul Willis Jr. A native of Mitchell County, Ms. Willis was born October 31, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Edward Boone and Docia Jarrett Boone. She was a retiree of Baxter Healthcare in North Cove, NC. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Ms.Willis was a resident of Spruce Pine and a member of the Spruce Pine Methodist Church.
Ms.Willis is survived by three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren and six greatgrand children; Ella Jo Willis of Burnsville, her son charlie Teague and wife, Deborah and their children, Grayson and Bethany of Newnan, Ga; Judi Street of Asheville, her daughter, Carrie Goforth Hicks and husband, Kevin and her children,Malic and Aiyana; Paula Willis of Swannanoa, her daughters, Christie Boyer and her husband,Robbie and their son AJ and laura June Isaacs and her daughter Nadia, andPaul Willis, 111 and his wife Karen, and their children, lauren,Alex, Aaron and Lindsay, of Charleston, SC.
A memorial service will be held at the Spruce Pine Methodist Chruch at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 11,2009. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Mitchell County, P.O.Box 38, Spruce Pine NC 28777.
