Mrs. Mills, 77, Goes In Death Rites Wednesday
Nichols--Mrs. Laura A. Mills, 77, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday at Mercy hospital in Iowa City as a result of an illness of complications. Mrs. Mills was a long-time resident of the Nichols community. She was born Jan. 17, 1864, in Edgington, Ill., and was married to Joshua A. Mills on April 6, 1882 at Nichols. She was the former Miss Laura Schildberg.
Surviving are 12 children, Clyde C., Charles E., Mrs. Hazel F. Oostendorp, Fred D., Frank E., Mrs. Linnie A. Finley, and Burton A., all of Nichols, Mrs. Viola E. Park and Lester E., both of West Liberty, Mrs. Ada M. Curtis, of Muscatine, Lloyd H. of Iowa City and Mrs. Pearl Lukenbach of Columbus Junction; four brothers, Arthur and Edward Schildberg, both of Muscatine, Ray Schildberg of Illinois City, and George Schildberg of Nichols; and three sisters, Mrs. James Bickford of Wapello, Mrs. Henry Lessman of Muscatine, and Mrs. Minnie Simmons of Andalusia, Ill.
Her husband died Feb. 1, 1927, and one son, Louis C., also preceded her in death, Aug. 15, 1937.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the H. Kirchner funeral home. The body is at the funeral home and burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.
