CHARLES I. CONKIN
---Funeral services for Charles I. Conkin will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (April 26, 1986) at Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel in Kirksville with the Rev. Stanley East of LaPlata officiating.
---Music will be provided by Charles "Bud" Reese, soloist and Mrs. Julia Mollick, organist. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be William R. Matthew, John Spainhower, Bill Harrison, Andrew Coy, Don Athon and Phil Carlyle.
---Mr. Conkin, 67, of 1010 E. Normal Ave., died at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday (April 23, 1986) at Grim-Smith Hospital.
---Born Oct. 14, 1918 in Sullivan county, he was the son of Charles K. and Elfa (Brees) Conkin. On Feb. 15, 1950 at Macon, he married Deloma L. Murphy who survives.
---Also surviving are two sons, Charles Conkin of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Gary Conkin of Casper, Wyo.; his mother of Green City; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Anna Bell) Smith of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Mrs. Cly (Ava Nell) Law of Green City; four grandchildren, Kraig Conkin, Kristie Conkin, Emily Conkin and Charles Conkin and several nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1958 and an infant grandson.
---Mr. Conkin was reared in the Green City community and moved to Kirksville where he was employed by the Palace Bakery for 22 years. He later was employed by the Kirksville R-III School District as maintenance supervisor for 18 years before retiring due to ill health.
---He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Inc., and was well known for his woodworking of grandfather clocks and furniture and his restoration of old furniture.

Charles Ivan Conkin married his first wife, Esther A. Ledford, in 1941 and they had two sons, Charles Ellis and Gary D. Conkin. The marriage ended in divorce.
Charles Ivan Conkin married his second wife, Deloma Luray Murphy on February 15, 1950 in Macon, Macon County, MO.
