MARJORIE JUNE (BOUCEK) PROCHASKA was born September 28, 1923 to Frank and Josephine Srna Boucek on a farm northwest of Ada, KS. She departed this life of 79 years early Sunday morning, June 1, 2003 at her home near Simpson, KS. Marjorie spent her childhood years on the farm and attended a nearby country school. She continued her education at Ada High School. On November 1, 1940 she married Marvin L. Prochaska. They lived briefly on a farm west of Ada and in 1941 moved to their present home on a farm south of Simpson. This union was blessed with five children Marvin Dean, Marilyn, Richard, Betty and Ronald. Marjorie focused her life on providing a warm and nurturing home for her family of which she dearly loved. She enjoyed assisting Marvin with all aspects of their farm and was most supportive of his efforts in maintaining the Bohemian Heritage he was so proud of. Marjorie took an active role in the education of her children and was always there for them. She loved working in her garden. Perhaps above all, she cherished the title of "Grandma" and "Great Grandma." Marjorie was a member of the ZBCJ-WFLA Bohemian Lodge #203 of rural Glasco. In earlier years, she enjoyed helping with all of the activities that went on at the Hall. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Marvin L. Prochaska and her son Ronald Prochaska who both died in 1997. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mildred who died in infancy and Erma Parks and one step-grandson, Paul Davidson. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children Marvin D. Prochaska of AR, Marilyn J. Engel and husband Eugene of Lena, IL, Richard L. Prochaska and wife Donna of Glasco, Betty A. Miller and husband Roger of Simpson, KS; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral Services were held June 4, 2003 at the Dean Funeral Home, Glasco, KS with Pastor Kelly Sipes officiating.
