Elmina Pingrey was born January 15, 1830 in Alfred NY, was married November 19, 1848 to Stephen M. Austin, who preceded her to the Great Beyond five years since. Her death occurred at McFall, Missouri, October 17, 1912, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 2 days, on the farm adjoining town on the south, to which she came with her family 26 years ago.
She was educated at Alfred and was a teacher in her younger days. Mrs. Austin was a woman of more than average intelligence and refinement, and was ever kind and considerate of the interests of others was a consistent Christian, the Methodist being the church of her choice.
She leaves four living children: Buritt M. of Holdenville, Okla; Fred S., Mrs. Anna M. Hann, and Miss Alice Austin, all of McFall. The oldest son, Shedrach, and two young daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Florence, having died in the East.
