Jeremiah was listed in the Massachusetts Rolls in Captain's Downing's Company, Colonel Ashley's Regiment and then was transferred to Captain Stone's Company, Colonel Brewer's Regiment for three years. Was in Continental Service until December 31, 1780.

Jeremiah Dunham of Camillus in the state of New York who was a private in the regiment commanded by Colonel Brewer of the Massachusetts Line, for the term of the war. Inscribed on the roll of New York at the rate of 8-dollars per month to commence on the 13th of April 1818. Certificate of Pension issued the 11th of July 1818 and sent to the Hon. James Parker, Skaneateles, Onondaga County, New York. Arrears to 4th of March 1819-$1331.

Jeremiah was the son of David Dunham and Sarah Markham and born in Massachusetts. David was born June 1, 1732 in Norton, Bristol, Massachusetts and had a twin sister, Barsheba Dunham. He is a direct descendant of Deacon John Dunham who came to Plymouth from England via Leiden, Holland on the Ship,HOPE, in the 1600's.

Jeremiah and his wife, Achsah (Achseh) Reed Dunham came to Fabius, Onondaga, New York before 1800, probably along with his brother, David Dunham, Jr. and his wife, Phebe Gregory. David and wife later moved to Venango County, Pennsylnania where they lived the rest of their lives.

Jeremiah and his family were in Camillus for the 1820 census and this is where they remained. Achsah Dunham is believed to have died in Camillus (burial unknown) probably before 1814. Jeremiah remarried to Sarah Richards Kasson in that year.Sarah was married previously to William Kasson of that area and he died in 1813.

Achsah and Jeremiah had:

John Dunham born 1791 and died 1842. He later lived in Wayne County, New York.

Polly Dunham born in 1796 in Fabius, New York.

Malinda Dunham born July 15, 1798 in Fabius, New York.

Jeremiah Dunham, Jr. born 1802 in Fabius, New York.He and his family resided in Lysander, Onondaga County, New York and are buried there.
Jeremiah Dunham, Jr. married Hannah Carder. They were both born in 1802 in Onondaga Co. They had nine kids: Henry J. born 1829, Sardis born 1831, Harvey born 1836, Almira born 1837, Hannah A. born 1838, Susan born 1841, Joseph born 1843, Jane born 1845, and Sarah born 1847.

By wife, Sally , Jeremiah, Sr. had Cicero Dunham born in 1812.
