OBITUARY: WAYNE COUNTY OUTLOOK, THURSDAY, 30 APRIL 1987

Arlie Barnes was born May 7th, 1908 in the Spann Hill Community, the son of Othial and Siotha Pierce Barnes.

He married Nell Gregory on June 30, 1930. She preceded him in death in 1952. To this union three children were born: Reid Barnes of Greenfield, Indiana, Dolores Chriswell of Monticello and Arlie Owen Barnes of Milford, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He later married Lillian Coop of Albany, who preceded him in death in 1973. Also Gladys Eller, who preceded him in death in 1981.

He is survived by two sisters, Amy Koontz and Mildred Barrier of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Barnes; a sister, Dora Koontz; two half-sisters, May Smith and Verda Hicks; two half-brothers, Sam and Alf Barnes.

He was a disabled Veteran of World War II.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of the funeral home with burial in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews: Edward Koontz, Benton Koontz, Gary Koontz, Eugene Koontz, David Barrier and Lyle Barnes.
