Charles J. Long, 87, of Vernon, died Saturday, Jan 22, 2000, in a local hospital.
Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eastview Cemetery with the Rev. Derrell Patterson, pastor of The First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Long was born Aug 13, 1912 in Strong City, Oklahoma, a son of the late Charles N. and Amy Long. He married Ardith Faye Fudge on April 6, 1935 in Eureka, Kansas. He was a laborer and welder, retiring in 1976 from the Muleshoe Co-op Elevators.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Charles Justin Long of Waco, Carlin Eugene Long of Muleshoe and Glen Long of Vernon; a daughter, Charlene Faye Moore of Plainview; two brothers, Donald Long of Arkansas City, Kansas and Paul R. Long of Ontario, Ore.; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
