Lucy Evelyn Kennedy Barrier, 87 years of age, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on February 15th, 1924, daughter of the late Ezra Kennedy and Lou Hicks Kennedy. She was a farmer and a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star Lodge No#328.
She was survived by three daughters, Linda Sumpter of Somerset, Kentucky, Kathy Campbell of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Faye Pitman of Eubank, Kentucky; one brother, Huel Kennedy of Monticello, Kentucky; two sisters, Christine Abbott of Monticello, Kentucky and Flonnie Campbell of Lexington, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Johnie H. Barrier; her parents, six brothers and one sister.
Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Vola Brown officiating.
Burial followed in the Elk Springs Cemetery.
