Lincoln R. Baker, 48, Morgantown

Lincoln R. Baker, age 48, of Morgantown died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Born August 14, 1960, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of Donald Vernon and Patricia Rinehart Baker. On October 20, 1990, in Palmdale, California, he married Linda Wiesenauer.

Lincoln grew up spending a lot of his childhood in Wichita Falls, Texas, and McGuire Air Force Base before moving to Evansville at 14. He graduated from Evansville North High School in 1978 and then from Purdue University in 1982, with a degree in electrical engineering technology. In 1982, he joined the Boeing Company, working in Wichita, KS, Edwards Air Force Base and Everett, WA. He worked in flight test on the B1-B Stealth Bomber as well as on Boeing's first 777 Commercial Jet. He joined Cummins Engine Company in 1999, working as a systems engineer on the QSM11 engine.

He played on worship teams at Calvary Chapel at Antelope Valley and Palmdale Fellowship, both in Palmdale, CA. He also played on Sonlife Christian Assembly in Marysville, WA. Most recently, he worshiped at the Horseman's Camp Christian Outreach. He was active in the jail ministry at Snohomish County jail in Washington and also at the Brown County Jail.

Lincoln loved to play drums and guitar and to write worship songs.

Lincoln is survived by his parents; his wife; sons, Josiah and Samuel Baker; daughters, Sarah Wiesenauer Baker, Emily Baker, Amethyst "Amy" Baker and Naomi Baker; a brother, Donald "Donnie" (Debbie) Baker; a sister, Melissa "Missy" Baker; a nephew, Matthew Baker; and several aunts.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
