Son of the late Walter Kenneth and Gladys Stample Knauff, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marion R. Knauff on April 1, 2003. He was survived by a daughter, Vicki L. Sammons and her husband J. Patrick Sammons; a son, Ronald L. Knauff and his wife Julia Rahiser Knauff; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Kay Hill and Ruth Rasp; and an extended family of relatives. He was member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evans City, PA. He retired from MSA, Callery, where he worked for 45 years. He was a veteran of WWII (U.S. Army). He was a member of American Legion Post 219, in Evans City. He was a member and secretary of Tri-Boro Bowling League for 33 years. He was a member and secretary of Mine Safety Golf League for more than 30 years. His funeral was held August 3, 2004, with The Rev. Dr. A. Michael Boggs officiating.
