John T. Brady, the contractor, president of John T. Brady & Co., which built Grant's Tomb, remodeled the interior of the City Hall, and which is now building the forty one story Singer Building, died suddenly on Monday while visiting Joseph Hederman of 69 East 177th Street. He was 55 years old, born in County Cavan Ireland, and came to this country when a child with his parents.
He retired from active interest in the big contracting firm five or six years ago and has since lived quietly at his home in Oceanic, NJ.
The brady firm is one of the largest in the country and has built many office buildings and private homes, and public structures all over the United States, the magnificent Jewish Theological Seminary and Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in this city being among them.
The firm was interested with William J. Oliver of Louisville in his Panama Canal bid, and had it obtained the contract the Bradys would have had charge of the masonry work.
Mr. Brady went to work at the age of 18. Five small brothers and sisters were left in his care and to support by the sudden death of both his parents. NYT Aug 8, 1907

John T. Brady is survived by his spouse Anna E.(Dolan) Brady, brother Thomas J.Brady and Mrs. Mary F. McNamara.
