James Albert Mount, 85. of Carroll and formerly of Lanesboro, died. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 1990, at the Carroll Health Center, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were this afternoon, Oct. 26. 1990, at the First United Methodist Church. Carroll. Burial was in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Mount was born Dec. 28, 1904, at Lamar, Mo., the son of James T. and Mary (Bartlett) Mount. As a young boy, he attended school in Barton County, Mo. He and Gladys Ford were married Sept. 22, 1926. at Fort Dodge.
Mr. Mount farmed in the Lanesboro area for 22 years and later worked for Bell Telephone, retiring in 1970. The Mounts celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. He was also a member of the First Methodist Church and the Signet Lodge, both of Carroll.
Survivors include: his wife, Gladys, of Carroll; a daughter, Darlene, and her husband, Ed Jensen, of Carroll; a son, James L. Mount, and his wife, Nona, of Granite Falls, Wash.; a son, Verlon A. Mount, of Dog Patch, Ark.; a daughter, Linda L. Mount, of Austin, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Janice Mount, of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Myrtle Hall, of Lake City; brothers-in-law Ira Ford of Carroll and Milton Crockett of Lamar, Mo.; sisters-in-law Lillian Ford and Arlene Hannasch; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mount was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter. June R. Stouten.
