"Old Settler Passes Away.
Mrs. Anna Olson, an old time resident in Union county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Anderson, on Saturday, May 6, and was buried from the Baptist church in this city on Sunday, May 7, 1911.
Anna Vale Olson was born near Skeln, Norway, January 22, 1824 and emigrated with her parents to this country and settled on a farm in Walworth county, Wisconsin in 1829. She grew to womanhood there and was married to J.W. Olson. In 1869 the young couple moved west and settled in Union county, taking up a homestead about 5 miles northwest of ElK Point.
Eight daughters were born to this union, of whom six are still living. They are Mrs. Anna Nichols of Sioux City, Mrs. Carrie Hansen of Chicago, Mrs. Sophia Hyde and Mrs. Loviness Hyde of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mrs. Alice Tollefson of Elk Point."
