When Charles P. Trammell was born on March 15, 1873, in Williamson, Illinois, his father, John, was 51 and his mother, Norcissis, was 30. He married Julia Ann Hager and they had 13 children together between 1905 and 1927. He also had one child with Alice White. He died on August 9, 1955, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 82.

Enlisted in the US Army on September 4, 1899. Honorable discharge July 5, 1901. Served 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day in the Philippines with Co. B 38 Inf.

Charley Trammell was living in Jackson, Illinois, when he registered for the World War I draft.
