Everette was born on April 21, 1938, in Watauga County to Tressie James Greene and the late Ralph S. Greene. Everette was owner of Greenes Ministries and was an accomplished self-taught pianist. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Townsend Greene, of the home; three sons, Ronnie Brookshire and wife Nancy of Nashville, Tenn., the Rev. Tim Greene and wife Amy and Tony Greene and wife Taranda, all of Boone; one daughter, Kimberly Greene Hopper and husband Dean of Madison; three granddaughters, Brittany Greene and Isabella Greene, both of Boone and Karlye Hopper of Madison; his mother, Mrs. Tressie Greene; two brothers, John Greene and wife Lennis and Mickey Greene and wife Gayle; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Snow Townsend, all of Boone; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Westview Baptist Church in Boone with the Rev. Mike Townsend and the Rev. Jack Lassiter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Tim Greene Medical Fund, in care of Highlands Union Bank, P.O. Box 2996, Boone, NC 28607.
