Jerry Abrams, 56, of Austin, died Tuesday, September 16, 1997. Jerry was born October 10, 1940 in Shelby, North Carolina, to T. J. and Carrie Ramseur Abrams.

He had been a resident of Austin since 1971. He retired from the United States Air Force as S/SGT, on May 17, 1971, and was employed by the University of Austin as a security police officer for 20 years.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 1997, in the Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Abrams of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard G. Abrams and Chandra of Austin; step-daughter and son-in-law, Linda Allen and Chapelle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step-son, Arthur V. Clark of Austin; father, T. J. Abrams of Shelby, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Airman Jason Jarmon of Pensacola, Florida, and Jaron Abrams of Austin; two brothers, Bob Abrams and Haywood Abrams, both of Shelby, North Carolina; four sisters, Bettye Beasley, Carolyn Abrams, Louise Abrams, all of Shelby and Linda Abrams of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are other loving relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, and one brother, Thomas Abrams.
