James was the son of Zadock Brewer and Mary Ann Brumley. In 1861 James married Cynthia Emeline Weeks in Johnson County, Arkansas. They had the following children: James M, Louisa Elwsey "Lou," Mary Isabelle "Bell," John H., Margaret Elizabeth, Sarah Caroline "Callie," Ida May, William Carroll, Lillie, and Irene Victoria.

Uncle Marion Brewer died at his home at Bear Creek Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock. He was about 60 years of age and was one of Searcy County's well known and honored citizens. He was buried with Masonic Honors in Bear Creek Cemetery. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his demise.
