"Venie" an 89 year-old native of Mobile and a resident of Eight Mile passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a certified private caregiver who loved gardening and working in her yard. She also loved genealogy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Rufus L. Johnston, and sons, Charles G. Johnston and Dennis L. Johnston. She is survived by her son, James Johnston of Eight Mile; daughters-in-law, Linda Johnston and Judy Johnston of Mobile; grandchildren, Catherine H. Johnston of Mobile; Angelique (Shane) Watkins of Georgiana, AL, and Clay (Mary) Johnston of Mobile; great-grandchildren, Lonnie "Camp" Campbell, Jr., Kenady Watkins, Bobbie Watkins, and Jacob Watkins; other relatives and friends.
