Oscar A. Byrd
Funeral services for Oscar A. Byrd, 61-year-old resident of Columbia, were held Sunday afternoon, March 3, in his home on Broad Street with the Rev. R. C. Clark officiating. Burial was in the Columbia Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd died Saturday evening at his home. he had been ill for several months and his death was the result of heart failure. Mr. Byrd had lived in Columbia for the past seven years having moved here from Wiggins, Miss.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Miss Cammie Bilbo, two sons, Dwight and Dewitt Byrd, of Columbia; four sisters, Miss Mary Byrd of Columbia; Mrs. Jane Pipkin, Perkinston; Mrs. Edna Moore, Houston, Tex.; and Mrs. Nora Peel, Freemont, N. C.; three brothers, Richard Byrd, Bendale, Miss.; Edward Byrd, Perkinston; and William Byrd, Woolmarket, Miss.
The Colonial Funeral Home had charge of the funeral arrangements.
