Douglas E. Tintinger of Sparks, NV passed away suddenly on Monday, July 13, 2009 at home. Doug was born on September 27, 1932, in Great Falls, MT.
Doug is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pearl, son, Steve (Kim) and his daughter, Shelley (Egan); his grandchildren, Steven, Trevor and Blake; his stepgrandchildren, Luke, Casey, Brooke, Grant and Devin, and his great-grandchildren, Cali and Kaden.
Doug was a proud veteran having served his country from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War in the Navy and for the balance of his service in the Air National Guard. Doug also retired from the Pipfitter's Union after 19 years of service with Anaconda Company in Montana. Doug was proud of his fellowship amd service with the Reno Elks, and he especially enjoyed delivering holiday packages to deserving families. A consummate talker, Doug never met a man he couldn't befriend or a waitress he wouldn't hug, and his friends crossed all boundaries in life.
Doug loved to fish, hunt and imbibe an occasional "barley pop," and he was happiest delivering annonymous gifts of his time, labor, efforts and love to his friends and family. You knew you were in Doug's thoughts if your doorbell or telephone would ring in the early morning hours when no other creature should be awake.
The interment will be at the Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10:30 am. A memorial service at which all are welcome will be held at the Reno Elks Lodge, 597 Kumle Lane, Reno, NV on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 6 pm. Donations can be made to Pearl Tintinger for a memorial bench inscribed with his name to be placed at the cemetery.
