Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at Farmerville First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Robbie Lawson officiating. Burial was in Pearson Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Grannie loved all nature and sports. LSU and the Saints really entertained her this year, but most of all she loved her beloved daughter Imogene and son-in-law Zeb. She treasured every minute that they have devoted to her. Proud of her family FOREVER. She is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. She would never complain and always had a smile for everyone. When enduring pain and heartache, she used every bad moment to be a testimony to her Lord and her family.
For all the love she got, she gave far more. Her love was eternal as our memories of her will be. Her last words to this world were, "Lord, come quickly." She was ready. Grannies' prayers in life would beg you to be sure that you are ready, too. For we know not the day or hour. Please find this time not to grieve for Edith Christine Compton, but to find your way to be with her in glory. Amen.
A special thanks to all who remembered her in prayer and to Pastor Robbie Lawson for his words of comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaston & Theo Gulledge, husband, Bugg Compton, 1 brother, George Gulledge, 1 son, Burl Compton and 1 granddaughter, Dinah Jean Simpson.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Imogene & husband, Zeb Khan of Farmerville; 2 grandchildren: Scott Simpson & wife, Kathee of Evergreen Community and Dallas Simpson & wife, Cathy of Evergreen Community; 4 great grandchildren: Channing Simpson & wife, Jordy, Grace Simpson, Tiffany Simpson & Jessica Hayes and 2 great-great grandchildren: Jaiden Freeman, Aiden Dannehl & Raylynn Smith. Pallbearers were Scott Simpson, Dallas Simpson, Channing Simpson, Zeb Khan, Marc Arrant and Houston Rhodes.
