Victim of a rare and strange disease, actinomycos, believed contracted from eating a grain of wheat contaminated with smut, Floyd B. Cavanaugh died in Loretto hospital Sunday, July 3, at 12:10 p.m.
Holding an executive position with the Standard Tilton Milling Co., of Dallas, he was stricken last September and taken to Baylor hospital in that city. About Christmas he was brought to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Cavanaugh in Dalhart. In March, he was removed to Loretto hospital.
Born in Dalhart February 9, 1906, he went through Dalhart schools, graduating in 1922. He continued his education at the University of Texas, Austin, and made a splendid record in the business world. He was an only child. Besides his parents, pioneers of Dalhart, he leaves a wife, Vivian, and a daughter, Norma Jean, two and one-half years old.
Services were held at 10:30 Tuesday morning from the Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. G. T. Palmer, pastor of the M.E. church south, in charge. Interment was made in Memorial Park cemetery under direction of the Peeples Co.
