He died at age 90 yr. 10 months, & 26 days. He purchased land in Antelope County, east of Oakdale, Neb. and moved his family there in 1884.
He was a member of the town board, the school baord, cemetery association, and director of the local bank.

On Jan. 1, 1873 at Central Point, Gallia Co., Ohio, James Stewart Stringfellow and Eliza Ann Hughes were married. He married (2) Mrs. Esther Rosamond Beer of Petersburg.
The eleven children of James & Eliza Stringfellow:
1. LeNora Merle Stringfellow - died in infancy
2. William Franklin - died before 1940
3. John Irving b. July, 1879
4. Clarence DeWitt b. Oct. 1889 - died before 1940
5. Laura Ellen (Stringfellow) Roberts b. Feb. 1881
6. Nannette Viola (Stringfellow) West b. Jan. 1883
7. Austin James Stringfellow b. Jan. 1885
8. Rev. Leroy Walter Stringfellow (1887-1977)
9. Edna Blanche (Stingfellow) Rose b. July , 1892
10. Jennie Alice (Stringfellow) Cunningham
