The death of Madelyn "Madie" Sadie Zed of Saint John, wife of the late Eugene Zed, occurred peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Sir Louis and Eva Mary (George) Stephen.

Madie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing. She was a member of the Canadian Lebanon Association, St. Pius X Church CWL and a former member of Riverside Golf and Country Club. Madie loved spending time with her family and her contagious smile will be sadly missed.

She is survived by one brother, Michael Stephen (Beatrice) of Toronto, ON, one sister, Geraldine Stephen of Saint John, four sisters-in-law, Angie Stephen and Lillian Stephen of Saint John, Pusser Stephen of Halifax, NS and Lee Stephen of Saint John, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers, Joseph, Frederick "Bud", Peter, Paul, Dr. Wesley, Louis and Ralph Stephen and two sisters, Barbara and Theresa Stephen.

The funeral service was held from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 12 noon. Interment took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Dr. David Stephen Foundation or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
