Betty K. Brumbaugh, age 74, of Dayton, PA, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Jamison, PA at the home of her daughter, Becky Lockwood.

She was born March 30, 1932 in Dayton, PA to Wade and Marie (Baughman) Byerly.

Mrs. Brumbaugh was a lifetime resident of Dayton, PA. After 39 1/2 years of service, she retired in 1993 from the Armstrong School District as a secretary for the Dayton High School. She was a member of the Public School Employees Retirements System of PA. Along with her late husband, she was owner/operator/bookkeeper of Brumbaugh's Market in Dayton from 1972 to 1981. She was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women's group. She enjoyed all of her church activities, including being a choir member and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #72 of Punxsutawney, PA and in 1975 she held the office of Worthy Matron. She was a Charter Member and very active with the Dayton Historical Society. She was a graduate of Dayton High School in the class of 1950. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by one son; Brett A. Brumbaugh and his wife, Melissa of Roanoke, VA and one daughter, Becky L. Lockwood and her husband Douglas of Jamison, PA; four grandchildren; Conner Lewis Brumbaugh, Alexa Lockwood, Brielle Lockwood and Ethan-Jace Lockwood; one brother, Clair D. "Bud" Byerly and his wife, Ginger of Dayton, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis E. "Bud" Brumbaugh, whom she married April 8, 1960 and who died April 13, 1999; one brother, James H. Byerly; two sisters, Dorothy Hoover and Kay J. Byerly, and one half sister, Velma Anthony.

Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Emory Chapel Cemetery in Wayne Township, Armstrong County, PA.
