Pauline L. "Bobbie" Deverick, 90, of Vandalia, died at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia and one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Memorials: Vandalia Meals on Wheels or United Methodist Children's Home, 325 S. Locust St., Centralia, Ill. 62801.

Mrs. Deverick was born on Oct. 22, 1918, in Rock Falls, the daughter of Clyde and Gernetta Mammen Cheshier. She married Charles Deverick on July 24, 1945; he died on Nov. 26, 1981.

She was the former owner of Dairy Queen in Vandalia, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.

She is survived by a niece, Becky and her husband Mike Mayfield of Effingham; Roger Clark and his wife Peggy of Vandalia; great-nieces, Paula Schea and her husband Peter Freimanis of Albuquerque, N.M., Amy Mayfield of Effingham, Dana and her husband Jason Warner of Vandalia, Mandy and her husband Walt Pearson of Vandalia, and Marci Clark of Columbia; and great-nephews, Travis Clark and his wife Kelly of Vandalia, Roddy Clark and his wife Gina of Worden, and Charlie Clark of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Margaret Clark.
