John W. Bufka served as a Corporal in the Spanish American War of 1898 for Michigan. His family heritage was from Alsace, Lorraine, which is a part of France. His famly was very talented in music, each person knowing how to play a variety of instruments. He married Pearl Harvey (1880-1935) and together they had three daughters: Edna W. (b. 1900),
Lucille Melissa (1904-1954), and Thelma (1906-1991). After Pearl died, he retired to Florida and remarried, Mary A. Bufka.
