Henry K. Isaacs 1920-2009

Henry K. Isaacs, 89, of Cottage Grove died July 18, 2009 from age related causes.

He was born July 4, 1920 in Bragg City, Mo. to William and Lilly (Fowler) Isaacs.

Henry served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.

On Dec. 10, 1941 in Tallahassee, Fla., he married Eleanor Barwick. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1946.

Henry enjoyed hunting and fast draw pistol competition. He was a member of the Cottage Grove Masonic Lodge, the Bohemia Mining Days Committee and was very involved with the Lemati Gang. He was an official Marshall of Bohemia Days from 1959 to the present.

He is survived by two sons, Herman Isaacs and wife, Conny, of Springfield, Ore. and Jim Isaacs of Spokane, Wash., a sister, Bea Lisenby of Springfield, Ore., a brother, Jay Isaacs of Yucca Valley, Calif., six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, on Aug. 13, 1963 and by three sisters, Evelyene, Marie and Ruby, a brother, Frank, and two great-grandsons, Joshua Isaacs and Ken Leisten.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. A private inurnment will be at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.

COTTAGE GROVE — A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for Henry K. Isaacs of Cottage Grove, who died July 18 of age-related causes. He was 89.

He was born July 4, 1920, in Bragg City, Mo., to William and Lily Fowler Isaacs. He married Eleanor Barwick on Dec. 10, 1941, in Tallahassee, Fla.

Isaacs worked in the timber industry for many years, retiring from Weyerhaeuser in 1979. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and later in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Herman of Springfield and Jim of Spokane; a sister, Bea Lisenby of Springfield; a brother, Jay of Yucca Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

His wife died Aug. 13, 1963, and two great-grandsons, Joshua Isaacs and Ken Leisten, died previously.
