James David (Dave) Prater, 82, died at 12 noon Wednesday, January 5 at LaFollette Community Hospital.
He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, a retired coal miner, and former court officer of Campbell County.
Survivors are his wife, Mayme; daughter, Mrs. Jeanette McCulloch; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held at Cross Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday by the Revs. Donald LaBelle and Fred Garner.
Pallbearers were Robert Goins, Ed Jones, W. H. Dossett, Ron Cable, Mack Williams, and Dennis Cordell. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
