Antonio was predeceased by his parents Pablin and Cleotilde Romero; brothers: Marcos and Martin Vigil; daughters: Lousita Sanchez and Mary Lena Garcia; sons: Emilito and Anthony Sanchez; son-in-law Dario Garcia; daughters-in-law: Miquelita and Margaret Sanchez; grandson Andrew Sanchez; and granddaughter Jessica Sanchez.
Antonio was survived by his wife of 65 years, Elsie Sanchez; his children: Ray Sanchez (wife Mary) of San Diego, California; Elmer Sanchez of Española, George Sanchez (wife Molly) of Española; daughters: Maxine Bustos (husband Tim) of Española, and Rubina Loibl (husband Chris) of Velarde; sister Regina Armijo of Velarde; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Antonio was a very loving father, always a smile on his face. He liked to spend time doing yard work and chopping wood. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Rosary was recited on 10 Sep in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel, DeVargas Funeral Home. On 11 Sep, Mass of Christian Burial was in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial was in the Velarde Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ray Sanchez Jr., Alvin Garcia, Elmer Sanchez Jr., Sonña Serrano, Kevin Sanchez and Beverly Vigil. Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Fidel Vigil, Martin F. Vigil, Martin Julian and Emilio Estevan Vigil.
