Phyllis R. Pohlman, 87, longtime Magic Valley resident, passed away at New Life Living Center in Filer on Tuesday, August 17, 1999.

Mom was born on June the 5th, 1912, in Alden, Minnesota to William Wilcox and Iris C. Howe. Her early years were spent in a Catholic Convent while her mother attended college and established her career. She received her high school education in Roseburg, Ore. and moved to Twin Falls in 1930. Though she grew up with little, she always had a prosperity for nice things, especially clothes. Fittingly, she and partner Nina Newman ran an early day Twin Falls clothing store called Logan's Knit Shop located near the Orpheum Theater on Main Street. She eventually turned it over to her mother who ran the business in the Rogerson Hotel building calling it Iris's, which became a well known women's clothing store for over 30 years. On September 30, 1937, she married William A. "Bill" Pohlman. Dad and Mom were married for over 55 years. They farmed south of Kimberly for 25 years where mom was a homemaker and mother. She loved to entertain and her cooking skills were known far and wide. A year after dad passed away on Dec. 10, 1992, mom's health began to fade and she relocated to New Life Living Center south of Filer where she resided until her passing.

She is survived by one son, John E. Pohlman, a daughter-in-law Helen M Pohlman, Jeff (Jessica), Shaun, Ryan and Aaron Pohlman all of Twin Falls; a granddaughter Brooklyn of Boise.
