Sister Joan Cecile LaCombe was born Marian Catherine LaCombe. Her parents were John and Henrietta LaCombe.

Sister was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Mi.. She received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in history from Siena Heights College in Adrian, a Master of Education degree in administration from Loyola University in Chicago, Ill., and a Master of Religious Education degree in religious studies from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

She spent 36 years in education in Detroit, Marquette and Iron Mountain; Elgin, Chicago, Elmwood Park and Riverdale, Ill.; and Santa Cruz, Calif. She was principal for six years at St. Kilian School in Chicago. Sister was Director of Religious Education for seven years in Marquette and Iron Mountain and Riverdale, Ill. She was Pastoral Minister for two years at St. Paul Parish in Owosso, Mich., and for eight years at St. Hilary Parish in Akron, Ohio. From 1978 to 1982 she was Vicaress for the Motherhouse Vicariate. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2006.

Sister Joan Cecile was in her 68th year of her religious profession. She died at the age of 86.
She was buried in the Adrian Dominican Sisters Cemetery, Also known as: Dominican Life Center Congregation Cemetery.
